Recently my husband and I went searching Netflix for some new stuff to watch instantly. They are constantly adding new titles and so you never know what kind of gems you will find. In doing so we discovered that neither of us had seen the series 24 with Keifer Sutherland.
Have you seen it? All I knew about it going in was that the events unfolded in real time over 24 hours/episodes. Sounds like a concept that could go either way. An awful lot of activity would have to happen in that time in order for it to be interesting. We were immediately hooked. It drew us right in and we are already working on the 3rd season.
I love this show and even more I love Netflix streaming instantly. Whenever I'm not feeling well, which is frequently, I can always find something great to distract me on Netflix. Last year we got one of those Roku boxes so we could watch the netflix stuff on our TV. We have gotten so much use out it that it was more than worth the price.
Perhaps when our DVD player gives out sometime in the future we'll get a blue ray player and just use that to get our Netflix stuff, but for now we're super happy with Roku. It has been a wonderful alternative to expensive cable channels.

I'm wanting to get Netflix, but we also don't have cable. I'm intrigued by the Roku box. Can you give me more info on it, so I can check into it for us? I'd really appreciate it. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE 24 and Jack Bauer! LOVE Netflix streaming--we do it through our TiVo and Wii. So grateful for this affordable service that is such a great distraction on my bad days. :-)
ReplyDeleteJamie, Netflix is fantastic and I highly recommend it. There are two parts; DVDs by mail and movies/shows streaming instantly on their site. They are trying to phase out the DVDs by mail but it will take a while. The stuff that streams instantly you can watch on your computer, which I do in bed sometimes on my laptop. Or you can see them on your TV by getting a Roku, gaming systems like wii, or Blue Ray DVD players. We got the Roku because it was the cheapest option. When you sign up for Netflix they have a tab that will outline all the options for getting movies on your TV, including how to purchase their Roku. We pay $16/month and for that we get 2 DVDs at a time and unlimited instant stuff. Very cheap for the several hours of viewing done in this house every day. Love it, love it, love it.
ReplyDeleteSelena is right, affordable and a wonderful distraction. We never go the movies anymore and it makes not having cable much easier.
Excellent! Thank you for the info. We never go to the movies, and I'm getting sick of watching the same things over and over and over. I've never had cable, so I don't want to get sucked into that. Netflix sounds like the perfect option for us right now.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE 24 here, and were so sad to watch the final season 8 after Christmas. Our sons will be really stuck for Christmas gifts for us now! They have bought us every season from the start. Rather than watching it week by week through the television season, we purposely avoided it, and watched it every year between Xmas and New Years. It was a really good series....
ReplyDeleteOh no, has 24 been canceled? We're only 1/2 way through season 3 now but thinking we only have 5 more season makes me sad too. I wonder if they just ran out of catastrophe scenerios.
