Botox - 2nd Round

I just had my 2nd round of Botox today. Unfortunately, since it's been a couple months since my first round wore off my doc thinks I'll basically be starting over. Not a huge deal, I guess. Mostly I'm just really looking forward to giving my overly tense head, neck and shoulder muscles a chance to relax and hopefully in the meantime I can continue to work on my relaxation skills.

My skin marks pretty easily so I'm already getting a couple little bruises, which I didn't get last time. Then again, the resident actually did the injections, though very closely supervised. He likely just hasn't yet developed the skills that come from years of giving these injections.

Here's hoping (still) things start turning around soon.

  1. I don't like the residents playing doctor on me. I'm just too fragile for that.
    Hope the Botox works!

  2. I often feel that way too. Part of me has trouble saying no in this kind of situation. On the one hand I don't want anyone but the best touching me with needles. On the other hand, I totally get that these new guys need the experience...but still, just don't want to be practiced on. Next time I will ask for the regular doc - my forehead is bruised and my eye brows are now drooping.

  3. I always want my treatments to be performed by an experienced physician because if I pay the big price of this treatment I want it to be painless, safe and effective.
Luckily all my botox Toronto sessions were performed by one of the best doctors in town and I hope that's how all my sessions will look like because otherwise I will change my clinic....I can't believe a resident performed your injections....I would not accept such a thing.

  4. Hi, how has the second round of Botox gone for you? I'm a red head so found it a very sore process. Can't believe some people do this for cosmetic reasons! I had small, call bruising and a bit of bleeding but not too bad. I only had one round in the end - but I think it did break the cycle of pain I was in at the time. I'm now having Nerve Blocks instead which seems to be working much better for me. Very intrigued to hear how you get on! I see from Twitter that you're having a bad day today so I thought my Botox rant on my blog and my nearly making a medical student cry my cheer you up! Link below.

    1. Hi Victoria. Glad to hear the nerve blocks are helping you. Seems I'm responding differently to this round of Botox than previously. More side effects...Looking forward to reading your Botox rant. Thanks!

  5. It's amazing how you were able to manage your migraine for years. You have that positive outlook in life which is very admirable. Aside from that, you clearly have a strong personality, believing that there are other possible solutions for your migraine, and thus the introduction of Botox. How are you now? Did the treatment help in lessening the migraine attacks?

    1. It's still too early to know if the Botox will help or not. So far it hasn't...but I'm still hopeful. Thanks Katie!
